Break!

Spring Break! Just in time. I needed it, I was feeling tired and worn out last week.

Went out with R on Friday night to a place west of downtown. A friend of hers was singing jazz at a restaurant/bar. Had a steak, a margarita, and split a cherry chocolate cheesecake. Okay, okay... so much for shriving. Good thing I didn't do anything with food for Lent. We sat there wondering, why have we not done this more often in our time here, instead of now that we only have 2 months left? Oh yeah, could have been the fact that we've been holed up studying and writing papers, or the whole lack-of-money factor. In any event, it was a nice time. Kind of a month-late b-day celebration for me and a woo hoo spring break is here let's go out and relax thing. Ran into another student and his wife and brother there, had some good conversation with them also.

G also wanted to do something to celebrate the month-past b-day. But had something else going on and couldn't go with us Friday. So yesterday we decided to go do lunch/brunch. His treat (okay, so is that a friend treating you to brunch for your b-day or is that someone trying to make it a date?). Went to this pancake place. It was pretty good. Of course 2 middlers saw us leaving and I felt curious eyes on us as we drove off, speculating... hmmm wonder what those two are up to going off by themselves. Yeah, yeah... I get enough of that from my own classmates, am I going to start getting it from Middlers too?

We had a nice time. Spoke mostly about deployment issues. I'm wondering if we need to have a follow-up to the conversation we had before the semester started. I've been trying to do some serious thinking and reflecting on the issue.

No time to write about it now... have to change clothes and head off for field ed.
