Moving & update

I remember the first thing that I thought of that lets you know you are moving - when you change the preset radio stations in your car. My little car only has 5. Currently 3 are set to radio stations in new city and 2 for old city.

I also just addressed my first piece of mail using my new address as the return address.

I should be able to get the keys today. The carpets are being cleaned today, they figure I can start bringing things in tomorrow. Yesterday packed up and loaded a lot of my stuff into Rector's truck and trailer. I was exhausted last night and I didn't even make very many trips up and down the stairs. Poor Rector will be feeling it today or tomorrow I'm sure.

I have to figure out when I can come back to finish packing up the remainder of stuff. I may just have to do more commuting this week and force myself to pack up stuff in the evening no matter how tired I am. The TV went bye-bye with the stuff that was loaded yesterday, so I won't have that to decide to chill out on.

If I do get the keys today, I'm thinking about coming back tonight and bringing the kitties back with me tomorrow morning. I'm still figuring out how I'm going to get a sermon written in the midst of all this, but I *do* have some ideas and some notes, so that's good... also have been praying over it like I try to do with all of them (which is probably why I have some ideas about it and also am not completely panicking like a sane person might - heh).

Sunday I set the table at both services. At the later service a host decided to find its way onto the floor at some point and I didn't notice until after I'd stepped away from the altar off to the side. Rector was standing next to me and could tell by the direction of my gaze and a slight movement from me that I saw it. He leaned next to me and said don't worry about it, I'll get it. I have no idea when it fell down there. I again distributed bread at that service, on the other side this week. I ran into problems again with a couple people not taking bread. Officially as a deacon I cannot give a "blessing." So what to do when you're in this in-between place? Had had this discussion with field ed Rector once and he'd said to come up with some suitable prayer. Well did I? No, not really, so I was left sort of making up a prayer on the fly that seemed sufficient. I think it was okay, but I think I want to come up with something to use so I don't have to come up with one on the spot.

Also got to train acolytes with someone who was in the military at one point and seemed to think that it was very important for the children to start walking on their left foot. I was torn between being appreciative for the man's ministry and dedication and thinking that in my opinion it doesn't matter which foot you start walking with and this is not marching band or ROTC. It was an interesting afternoon, that's for sure.

Gotta run, have a meeting at the church in a couple hours.
