Did do some things

I realized I've probably been a little hard on myself. I tend to have some high expectations and get down on myself if I'm not accomplishing all I think I should be, worrying that I'm procrastinating or being affected by ADD type stuff and getting distracted or side-tracked.

So I have to be honest. Even though I've felt like I haven't done much this week and have been spinning my wheels in picky details, let's acknowledge that I have been trying to wade through the decisions and details and I making some progress.

Also, in the last week I've been to visit 5 shut-ins (2 late last week and 3 early this week), giving communion to 4. I had communion for the 5th visit, but she wasn't very interested in it, seemed to be more interested in and in need of someone to talk to. She was pretty chatty, and that's coming from someone who's a chatty person. :)

Wednesday we had a group of about 40 people leave from our parish (but made up of folks - mostly teens - from several parishes) to go on about a 5 day mission trip to New Orleans to help a parish there. I felt it was important to send them off with prayer and so I copied the litany for the mission of the church and a couple concluding collects out of the Book of Occasional Services, and I lead the litany with them right before they got on the bus and took off. A few people thanked me for doing it. I felt glad that I was able to send them off in prayer as I'd wanted and hoped to do. Also that I pretty quickly found a resource to use that seemed to fit the occasion.

Wednesday I also led Morning Prayer with 2 staff members in place of our normal staff Eucharist. I could have said hardly anyone is here and we have lots to do let's skip it - and almost did. But reminded myself that especially when we're busy we should be grounded in prayer. So we had the service.

Also, I did go to the choir party in the evening during my free time when I could have been watching TV or doing laundry or shopping for a new skirt to wear for my ordination or sleeping or who knows what else.

So... I did do some things this last week, and it is a weird week with Christmas and the ordination planning. Not all weeks will be like this. And there's still tomorrow.
